Ahmed Alsoudani at Christie*s Dubai
Ahmed Alsoudani’s Untitled 2008, oil, acrylic and charcoal on canvas
Iraqi artist Ahmed Alsoudani, one of the biggest names on the contemporary art scene, is perpetually inspired by his roots. Last year, he told Art in America: ”Your life experience, even your childhood, is the biggest treasure you have. You can dig into it, and nobody is going to take that away from you.”
Heading to the auction block on April 17 is Untitled 2008, Alsoudani’s earliest known rendering of a dictator figure (shown above). The painting is the star of Christie’s Dubai’s Modern & Contemporary sale. Bidding on the work will start at $300,000.
