The Fresh Prince and DJ Jazzy Jeff Rock the Intrepid

Last night, the Fresh Prince (a.k.a. Will Smith) and DJ Jazzy Jeff (his long-time sidekick) gave an epic performance on the Intrepid. Smith’s son Jaden showed off his rapping skills as the opening act, while daughter Willow’s short new hair style prevented her from whipping her hair back and forth as she danced on stage. The concert was the highlight of the after-party for yesterday evening’s Men in Black 3 screening in Times Square.
Before the performance, partygoers such as plaid shirt-obsessed photographer Terry Richardson and British-Irish pop sensation One Direction enjoyed a grand fireworks display on the Hudson while noshing on carnival foods like hot dogs, pretzels, and ice cream cones.

Opening Today: Tomas Saraceno on the Roof of the Met

New Yorkers know nice weather is near when the Met’s roof top exhibition opens for the summer. This year, the museum’s curators are featuring Cloud City by Tomás Saraceno, an Argentine sculptor who lives in Frankfurt. The installation consists of a honeycomb network of 16 interconnecting, multi-level units with reflective surfaces. From now through November 4, visitors to the Iris and B. Gerald Cantor Roof Garden are invited to explore Saraceno’s floating city. I don’t know about you, but I find the idea of levitating above Central Park very exciting.

Making Sartorial History: The Beautiful and the Batty
Monday night, while the Metropolitan Museum of Art exhibited Miuccia Prada’s fashions, other designers showcased their muses. Some ensembles worn that evening will reign forever in the kingdom of the sartorially hallowed, while others will go down in history as the biggest fashion crimes ever committed.
Among the best-dressed are Carrie Mulligan, who radiated in a metallic Prada cocktail dress, and Bianca Brandolini d’Adda who dazzled in a matching Dolce & Gabbana gown and cape.
The offenders? Marc Jacobs is at the very top of the list, obviously. Kristen Stewart, who was recently hired as the face of Balenciaga’s new fragrance campaign, sported a wacky, form-fitting dress designed by the line’s Nicolas Ghesquiere. (Her black and white lace-up shoes and unkempt hairdo did nothing for her defense either.) Anja Rubik showed too much skin and bone, while going commando. And the always impeccable Ivanka Trump had an off night in a blue velvet bondage dress by Peter Pilotto.
To wish me a happy birthday my sister, Julie, sent me the most beautiful flower arrangement: Garden roses and lilly of the valley to commemorate my special year and upcoming wedding. Will they inspire my bridal bouquet?? Most likely :)

Ahmed Alsoudani at Christie*s Dubai
Ahmed Alsoudani’s Untitled 2008, oil, acrylic and charcoal on canvas
Iraqi artist Ahmed Alsoudani, one of the biggest names on the contemporary art scene, is perpetually inspired by his roots. Last year, he told Art in America: ”Your life experience, even your childhood, is the biggest treasure you have. You can dig into it, and nobody is going to take that away from you.”
Heading to the auction block on April 17 is Untitled 2008, Alsoudani’s earliest known rendering of a dictator figure (shown above). The painting is the star of Christie’s Dubai’s Modern & Contemporary sale. Bidding on the work will start at $300,000.
