J. Crew*s Answer to Rainy-Day Blues
Memorial Day is upon us and for those of us in the northeast, the rainy forecast is putting a damper (pun intended) on our weekend plans. To celebrate the start of summer, I’m headed out to the Hamptons with my family. But what to wear?? I wish I owned this water and gloom-proof J.Crew anorak in neon yellow—it would have been ideal for the drizzly weather ahead.  Shop this cheerful rainy-day...

Pretty in Punk: A Peek at the 2013 Met Gala*s...
Museum Mile was bustling with limos last night as fashion’s leading ladies made their way to the Costume Institute’s exclusive opening gala for Punk: Chaos to Couture. While Sarah Jessica Parker wins the award for best punk-inspired look for donning a gilded mohawk designed by British milliner Philip Treacy, the rest of these beauties also looked stunning as they walked the red...

Bright Lights, Beautiful City
Temperatures reached 80 degrees in New York on Wednesday and to celebrate the warm weather, Alex and I dined al fresco on our building’s rooftop. Birds chirped cheerfully as we sipped Chardonnay, and dined on roasted wild salmon and spring vegetable risotto. As the sun set, the city lights began to twinkle around us, reminding me that nothing beats springtime in New York or cozy dinners...

I *Heart* Honor*s Fall 2013 Collection
Fashion designer Giovanna Randall is one of the girliest girls you will ever meet so it came as no surprise that her Fall 2013 collection, which debuted yesterday in Chelsea, is a refreshing mix of beautifully tailored, uber-feminine pieces. As models walked the runway, they  flaunted pale pink wool coats, bright pink brocade trousers, and black and white ensembles, all  embellished with pink...

Cinderella: A Fairy Tale Come to Life, on Broadway
Seeing Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella on Broadway last night  transported me back to my childhood. The magical set, pictured above, set the tone for an enchanted evening, while the uplifting story reminded me that dreams really can come true.

Celebrating Saturday Night with Ribs
This weekend, my husband and I drove to my family’s house in the catskills in hopes of catching the fall foliage and cooking a big meal in a big kitchen. We picked up a rack of baby back ribs from The Smokehouse of the Catskills on the way upstate and used Alton Brown’s recipe for braised ribs. The result was a succulent meat dinner followed by an amazing night’s sleep.

Art Heist at the Kunsthal Museum in Rotterdam
Last night in an epic heist of blockbuster proportion, seven paintings were stolen from the walls of the Kunsthal Museum in Rotterdam. The bold thief snagged hundreds of millions of dollars worth of paintings by Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, Claude Monet, Paul Gauguin, Lucien Freud, and Meyer de Haan, leaving gaping holes in the museum’s 20th anniversary exhibition and a sick feeling in...

White Truffles at Zafferano in London
A waiter shaving white truffles onto a plate of creamy risotto at London’s Zafferano on October 13, 2012 Until four years ago, I had a love/hate relationship with white truffles. My father, a New York restaurateur, exposed me to them at a young age, making me travel each fall to our house upstate with a canister containing a stinking white truffle on my lap. While the fowl, rancid...

Laduree Teams with Lanvin!

Lanvin has teamed with the french confectioner to create a playful bubble gum flavored macarons, helping bring out the child in all of us. The special flavor is wrapped in an equally whimsical box...

Homemade Basil Walnut Pesto
Now that Alex and I are settling into married life and our first apartment together, I decided last night was the perfect time to experiment with one of our wedding gifts: a Cuisinart 9-cup food processor from Williams-Sonoma! Pasta with pesto sounded like the perfect dinner to make on a hot summer’s night.  The meal was a bit of an experiment because instead of making the sauce with pine...
